Hirante Welandawe


Hirante Welandawe is an architect, interior designer, urban designer and educator and is the founder / principal architect at H W Architects Private Limited (2002). Welandawe has designed a wide range of projects including the design of institutional buildings, condominium projects, boutique hotels, work places, and private residences (projects).

Welandawe studied at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, and graduated with a Masters in Architecture with distinction from the Alvar Aalto University in Helsinki (1990). Welandawe served as the Urban Designer for the Megapolis Office in 2002/ 2015 and co-authored “Project Proposal for Urban Heritage in the WRMPP”. She has been teaching at the CSA, Colombo from 1994 to date as both permanent and visiting faculty. Welandawe is a Fellow Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects.
